In winter, the hard time of the year starts in our mill. The farmers deliver the dried and cleaned seeds to our mill, where each distribution is checked and controlled by our strict quality management system. Finally we can store the pumpkin seeds and press them throughout year.(You can find more information on the production here:)
Depending on the weather, the Styrian farmers sow the seeds between the end of April and the mid of May. After a few sunny days the seedlings start to develop the first leaves. The sunny weather in the area around our mill sets up perfect conditions for the pumpkins. Let’s see what happens in the summer time.
Now the summer is over and the big pumpkins have developed their fatty seeds. The sunnier the long summer days have been, the better the quality of the seeds becomes. Now that it’s September and the nights get colder and longer, the harvest of the seeds begins. After the harvest, special machines clean and dry the seeds.
Now it’s June and the pumpkin plant is in the middle of its bloom. In the whole area of South Styria more and more fields start to shine in an orange sea of blossoms. During this beautiful time the pumpkins need a mixture of rainfalls and many hours of sunshine.
